Carson-Newman says “thank you” to those announcing retirements this year
Carson-Newman honored those announcing retirements this year at a special reception on campus Thursday, April 25. The group of eight individuals represent 179 years of combined service to the University.
“I cannot overstate the role our faculty and staff play in carrying out the mission of the University and the impact they have on our students,” said Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler. “This year’s group of retirees has played a critical role in doing just that. They each have served the University well and for that I am grateful. We wish God’s blessings on them as they begin this new chapter.”
Retiring this year are:
- Jennifer Catlett, Director of Counseling – 24 years
- Karen Gibson, Program Lead – Food and Nutrition; Associate Professor, Family & Consumer Sciences – 4 years
- Diane Hendricks, Senior Financial Aid Counselor/Loan Coordinator – 19 years
- Bruce Kocour, Dean of Library Services and Professor of Library Science – 33 years
- John Messer, Maintenance – 43 years
- Daniel Niceley, Library Circulation Coordinator – 11 years
- Jan Parman, Transcript Assessment Specialist – 25 years
- Richard Scruggs, Associate Professor of Music – 20 years
